New van for YMCA youth from The Village Bank

The youth and teens served by the West Suburban YMCA in Newton now have the advantage of a brand new 10-passenger van, thanks to a $25,000 Golf Tournament sponsorship from The Village Bank in Auburndale.

The vehicle was on public display for the first time at the YMCA’s 10th Children’s Charity Golf Tournament on July 1 at Brae Burn Country Club. The Village Bank’s sponsorship of the event provided for the purchase of the van.

According to Patrick Palmer, West Suburban YMCA president and CEO, the vehicle will greatly enhance program opportunities for local youth. It will be used to transport children and teens from local schools to after-school programs at the Y, as well as on special field trips for Teen Center participants and summer campers.

Over 540 children and teens ages 2 to 17 are enrolled in the Y’s child care and teen programs. Over 1,500 children are enrolled in the Y’s summer camps, and over 3,500 youth learned to swim or played sports at the Y’s Church Street facility last year.

“The West Suburban YMCA is extremely grateful to The Village Bank,” said Palmer. “As a nonprofit, we count on the generosity of our partners and donors to help us continue our vital work of strengthening this community through programs that nurture the potential of children and teens.”

“We are happy to help enable the youth of our community to take full advantage of the quality programming offered by the YMCA,” said Kenneth C. Brennan, president and CEO of The Village Bank. “The Y and The Village Bank have both been community strong for over 100 years, and we both know how important it is to prepare today’s youth for the future.”

Thank You! Youth and teens of the West Suburban YMCA in Newton express their thanks to The Village Bank in Auburndale for its recent donation of a new 10-passenger van that will allow them to take full advantage of programs offered by the local Y.
