The Village Bank supports Habitat for Humanity in Wayland

Patricia MacNeil, vice president and manager of the Wayland branch of The Village Bank, and Susan Paley, vice president of community relations, were among those taking part in the recent Habitat for Humanity groundbreaking ceremony in Wayland.

The Village Bank is a $10,000 Silver Hammer Sponsor of the project, which will soon start building affordable housing units for four families on the town-donated land located at 91-93, 95-97 Stonebridge Road.

A community effort, the Habitat process involves local donations of money, labor, and materials.

The pre-qualified owners of the two two-family townhouses, selected by lottery, must each contribute 400 to 500 hours of sweat equity in the building of their new homes and also attend homeownership and budgeting classes.

The groundbreaking ceremony, hosted by Habitat for Humanity - MetroWest/Greater Worcester, marked the official start of the Wayland build, which has been in the planning stages for several years.
