The Village Bank is Platinum Sponsor for Newton’s 2015 Festival of the Arts

Joseph A. De Vito, president and CEO of The Village Bank, announced today that the Bank will be the Platinum Sponsor for Newton’s Festival of the Arts, a month-long, citywide celebration scheduled for May 2015.

The inaugural Festival will feature art, music, theatre, film and performance events at locations throughout the City nearly every day during the event. Net proceeds will support the three Newton food pantries, with any surplus funds awarded in the form of grants to smaller arts and cultural nonprofit organizations.

“The Village Bank is a strong supporter of Newton’s vibrant arts and culture community, and has always been a champion for the efforts of the non-profits who serve our City so well,” said De Vito. “ We are pleased to support the Festival from the very beginning, and we will continue to be active as the event draws closer.”

Festival chair Gloria Gavris, Esq.; Linda Plaut, director of The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs; and Newton Community Pride are arranging and coordinating all aspects of the event. According to Plaut, up to 40 separate organizations and numerous individuals of note have already committed to being a part of the Festival agenda.

“We see this as a collaborative effort and a way to showcase the local organizations and individuals who make our city so culturally enriched,” Plaut said. “ The Village Bank’s commitment to our community is breathtaking.”

Festival Chairman Gavris also praised the Bank for its early commitment as the Platinum Sponsor for the 2015 Festival of the Arts.

“The Village Bank is an amazing community leader,” she said. “The Festival committee is greatly aware that the decision to support the Festival is one of the many ‘asks’ the Village Bank receives. We are very grateful for the Bank’s partnership.”
