2014 Phishing Scams

We have been notified that there has been an increase in telephone (both mobile and landline) scams  involving debit cards recently.

In an effort to trick customers into providing card information, customers from various Massachusetts banks, have received pre-recorded calls telling them that their debit cards were frozen.  The recorded call continues on, asking the customer to enter their debit card number and PIN in order to “unlock” their account.

Please be advised that The Village Bank would not contact any of its customers asking to enter any sort of card or account number since we have that information on file.  You should only provide your PIN when making a purchase or using the ATM, never provide it verbally or online.

If you receive a telephone call like this, please do not provide any information, simply hang up and contact our Customer Care Center at 617-969-4300 to let us know.
