The Village Bank awards $20,000 to Newton Community Service Center
Support for social and educational programs in the community

AUBURNDALE, MASSACHUSETTS, July 31, 2007 … The Village Bank has pledged $20,000 over two years to Newton Community Service Center (NCSC) to support the 100-year old agency’s  social and educational programs and services in the community. 

The Village Bank pledge applies to NCSC’s Second Century Fund, which supports continued delivery of a unique blend of  programs for people of all ages and backgrounds in Newton, Waltham and surrounding communities. The contribution makes The Village Bank a Presenting Sponsor of two NCSC centennial celebration events. The first event, a free, community-wide 100th birthday party, occurred on June 10th, 2007. The second and grand finale is NCSC’s Night of 1,000 Stars Centennial Benefit Gala scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2008.

Founded in 1907, Newton Community Service Center is a multi-service, non-profit organization that focuses on strengthening individual, family and community life through a network of support services and educational programs such as center- and home-based child care, early literacy training, child abuse prevention, after-school activities, teen mentoring, summer camp, community volunteering and counseling to parents and families.  Each year, approximately 5,000 children, teens, parents and adults from Newton, Waltham and surrounding communities benefit from NCSC programs.
