For customer transactions that may require extra time, e.g. opening an account or sending a wire, we recommend making an appointment prior to coming into the Bank by calling (617) 969-4300. Although not required, this will ensure that we are prepared to assist you in an efficient manner.

If the account associated with your direct deposit has been closed, and you have another deposit account with us, we will deposit the money into the open account. If you no longer have an account with The Village Bank, we will send the payment back to the Treasury and you will be issued a paper check at a future date.

If you received your tax refund by check
When available in mid-April, visit the IRS’s web-based portal at IRS.gov to enter your banking information. Doing so should speed up receipt of your payment. Be sure to have your account number and The Village Bank’s routing number handy: 211371858.
If you take no action, you will receive your payment by check through the mail. However, the U.S. Treasury indicates that payments made by check could arrive as late as August.
Additionally, we urge you to remain vigilant, as there have been many reports of fraudsters who are taking advantage of people. Some are pretending to be government officials who call or email and ask for sensitive information. Others are offering virus treatments that have not been approved, work from home schemes, and more.

At The Village Bank, Every Deposit Is Insured In Full
Each depositor is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to at least $250,000. All deposits above this amount are covered by the Depositors Insurance Fund (DIF). There are no maximum account limitations or amount limitations. Since the DIF began insuring deposits in 1934, no depositor has ever lost a penny in a bank insured by both the FDIC and DIF.
In March 2020, the Share Insurance Fund which insured deposits in Massachusetts-chartered co-operative Banks merged into the Depositors Insurance Fund, which insures deposits in Massachusetts-chartered savings banks. The combined Depositors Insurance Fund now insures all deposits over the amounts covered by the FDIC in Massachusetts-chartered savings and co-operative banks.
