Meet Michael, Nonantum Branch Manager
Welcome to The Village Bank. Nonantum branch.
How long have you worked at The Village Bank?
I’m Michael Spaulding, assistant vice president, branch manager of the Nonantum branch in The Village Bank. I’ve been with The Village Bank for what will be ten years in June of this year. I started as a teller in the West Newton branch, and then in 2018, I was promoted to this branch as teller supervisor, where I was here for two years, getting to know this community. From there I was the assistant branch manager in the Newton Centre branch for a year, and then I became branch manager of the Waban branch for three years. And I’ve been branch manager of this branch in Nonantum since March of last year.
Why do you love working for The Village Bank?
I love working for The Village Bank for a lot of reasons. It’s Community. It’s family. It’s being a part of something. Um, and I come in here every day knowing that I can make a difference in people’s lives, whether it’s. It’s something small or something large. Um, I’m always looking for opportunities to serve customers, coworkers and leave something better than how I found it.
What do you love about Nonantum?
Working in the lake is an honor. It’s a really unique community. I grew up five minutes down the street on Elliott Ave in West Newton. I spent a lot of time here as a kid. Met a lot of people who I helped today. It’s a special place to be, really tight knit. Everybody has each other’s backs. They accept you for who you are, even if you’re a little quirky like me. And it’s just a great place to be. And it’s a huge honor for me to be able to lead this team here and serve this community, because it’s, like I said, a really special place.
How do you live the pledge?
Living the pledge is it’s not something I just do when I come here and leave it at work. It’s something I do in my everyday life. I never want to leave anybody stranded. I never want to leave anything left unanswered. So even if it’s an answer that somebody might not want to hear, I will approach it with sensitivity and try to put a positive spin on things and at least give you an answer. No matter what it is, if it’s a small little detail, I don’t want to leave any stone unturned. And working with The Village Bank for ten years now, has really taught me a lot about accountability and just being there for people when they need it and always being a solid resource for people.
Let’s take a look inside.
